Feed inventory calculator
Enter what you have on hand, what one animal eats of that item each day, and how many animals eat it. The calculator tells you how many full feeding days remain — for example, “Stock will last 12 days.”
How this calculator works
Days of cover is current stock divided by herd daily use. Herd daily use is consumption per animal times the number of animals on that ration. The headline counts full days only, so 12.4 days still reads as 12 days — a conservative planning number.
A seven-day order-by cue is a buffer, not a supplier lead time. Farms that wait on a mill, a contractor, or a seasonal silage pit should order earlier. Run the calculator once per feed item; silage and concentrate do not empty together.
DairyLogs inventory records receipts and issues against the actual stock so this is not a one-off worksheet. The public tool is for a quick check when you already know the on-hand figure.
